Netflix Originals Coming to Netflix in February 2020

  • Post Category:Netflix

The second month of 2020 has plenty of new Netflix Originals to look forward to and below, we’ll be taking you through every Netflix Original planned to release on Netflix throughout the month of February 2020.

As February is the month of Valentine’s Day, you can expect plenty of romantic comedy and Valentine’s specials announced for the service.

As a note, this article is an ongoing concern. We update weekly or bi-weekly depending on the announcement of new titles and in no way reflects every title coming to Netflix in February 2020.

Locke & Key (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: February 7th

One of our most anticipated series coming in 2020 is Locke & Key. Based on the comic book series, it tells the story of three siblings who are moved homes after a brutal murder of their father to discover keys that unlock powers and abilities.

Joe Hill has heavy involvement with the series and with any luck, it’ll debut to similar fanfare that The Umbrella Academy did. One to watch.

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (Movie)

Netflix Release Date: February 12th

Netflix sequels are rare but one that was almost certain to get one given the high viewership is To All the Boys. The first movie featuring Noah Centineo and Lana Condor was a smash hit with its adaptation of the novel its based on.

Apart from a few casting announcements, news on the sequel has been relatively quiet but you can guarantee it’s going to be another solid entry.

Narcos: Mexico (Season 2)

Netflix Release Date: February 13th

It’s been a long and excruciating wait for more tales of the drug world from Mexico but we’ll finally be back south of the border in February 2020.

Narcos is a drama series that follows some of the world’s biggest drug lords and their quest to own it all.

Cable Girls (Season 5 – Part 1)

Netflix Release Date: February 14th

Spanish series have done exceedingly well on Netflix with Cable Girls now the longest-running foreign series created by Netflix themselves. The final season of Cable Girls will wrap up the story of the telephone operators.

The final season will ultimately conclude with a second part due out in late 2020.

Better Call Saul (Season 5)

Netflix Release Date: Weekly starting February 24th
Note: Excludes Netflix in the United States

The fifth and final season will be released weekly on Netflix starting at the end of February. It’s been a great ride for the AMC show and thankfully, most Netflixers around the world have been able to keep up with Jimmy’s transition into Saul Goodman.

Although Netflix US won’t get the season initially it will likely a year or so after the show has wrapped as per previous seasons.

Followers (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: February 27th

This series seems like it’ll have Black Mirror features given it focuses on technology and specifically social networks. It’s about an aspiring actress who hits it big after an Instagram post becomes a superstar with all the new pressures that come with it.

Netflix describes the show as witty, inspiring and heartfelt and it stars Miki Nakatani, Elaiza Ikeda, Mari Natsuki.

All the Bright Places (2019)

Netflix Release Date: February 28th

A new romantic drama to round out the month of February comes on February 28th. Based on the novel of the same name, the movie directed by Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud, The Hero) is about the love story between Violet and Theodore.

It stars Elle Fanning, Virginia Gardner, Keegan-Michael Key, Luke Wilson, Alexandra Shipp, and Justice Smith.

Queen Sono (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: February 28th

February 2020 will mark another landmark with Queen Sono releases as the first Netflix Original series from the African continent.

The crime drama series will follow the secret agent tackling criminal operations. It’s created by Kagiso Lediga and features Pearl Thusi as Queen Sono.

What to Watch: Crisis Concludes, Grace and Frankie and The Magicians Return, The Outsider Premieres

  • Post Category:Netflix

Are you prepared to be overwhelmed with all the programming on the air this spring (yes, I’m counting this entire season in that category!)?

It’s no wonder since FX President and TV wunderkind John Landgraf revealed this week that there were 532 scripted originals to sink your teeth into during 2019.

We expect that number to rise in 2020 with the number of streamers coming our way in addition to the already terrific shows we watch every week. Find out what’s worth your time from January 12 – 18 below!

8/7c The Critics Choice Awards (The CW)

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) announced today the star-studded line up of presenters who will take the stage during the 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards.

Keegan-Michael Key will be on hand to recognize Eddie Murphy with the Critics’ Choice Lifetime Achievement Award and Ted Danson will present Kristen Bell with the #SeeHer Award.

Critics Choice 2020 Poster

Additional stars from some of this year’s favorite films and television shows who will present throughout the evening include Kate Beckinsale, Alison Brie, Kelly Clarkson, Brian Cox, Adam Devine, Sara Gilbert, Walton Goggins, Lucy Hale, Chris Hardwick, Anne Hathaway, Sam Heughan, Nick Kroll, Eugene Levy, John Lithgow, Sebastian Maniscalco, Caleb McLaughlin, Kennedy McMann, Seth Meyers, Ashleigh Murray, Niecy Nash, Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, Lupita Nyong’o, Catherine O’Hara, Edi Patterson, Tom Payne, Michael Sheen, JB Smoove, Bradley Whitford, and Scott Wolf.

They all join previously announced host Taye Diggs.

Critics’ Choice Awards are bestowed annually to honor the finest in cinematic and television achievement. Historically, they are the most accurate predictor of Academy Award nominations.

8/7c A Beautiful Place to Die: A Martha’s Vineyard Mystery (HMM)

Jesse Metcalfe headlines this new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series as a former Boston detective named Jeff Jackson.

Jeff returns to his hometown without any fanfare with a past he’s trying to move beyond, and the first murder in 20 years at the vineyard is just the thing to do it.

Martha's Vinyard Poster

Sarah Lind costars as his childhood frenemy (can we see sparks flying?) named Z. Now a doctor at the local hospital, she also doubles as the town coroner under the jurisdiction of her father, the chief of police.

Bolstered by routinely airing some of the best mystery procedurals ever on television, HMM has created a nice slate of mysteries at the network. Most of them make you wonder why you’d ever set foot in a small town when so many people are dropping dead, but they’re a lot of fun with a very slight romantic bent.

Metcalfe fits his latest role better than any I’ve seen of his in recent years, and both he and Lind appear to be having a great time.

I know the TV landscape is pretty crowded these days, but you should make room for this new outing, especially if you’re already a Hallmark fan.

9/8c NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS)

After a rise in deaths caused by black-market opioid use, the NCIS team links the street drug to funding for terrorist activities in an episode with visits by Sam’s friend Katherine Casillas and Deeks’ mom Roberta.

9/8c The Outsider (HBO)

The wonderful mind of Stephen King serves as the basis for another limited series. This one features stunning acting and follows a small town that is left reeling from the death of a young boy.

We already have a full review for you in preparation for the two-hour premiere.

Monday, January 13

8/7c The Bachelor (ABC)

After opening up some old wounds left by the infamous windmill, Hannah is left having to make the decision if she will join the race for Peter’s heart or if she will have to let the pilot fly free. How will the new ladies vying for Peter’s heart react if Alabama Hannah joins their ranks?

10/9c Manifest (NBC)

The midseason premiere of Manifest shocked fans with the revelation that Vance is alive, but now we need to find out what he knows that could help Ben and Mic decipher their Callings.

As Mic tries to reach out and save Zeke, Ben connects with a student from Flight 828 who is struggling to understand his Callings. Grace also makes a discovery about her pregnancy. Who do you think the father is?

10/9c The Good Doctor (ABC)

The Good Doctor returns, and Shaun may have some decisions to make in his personal life as he explores his feelings for Lea and Carly asks if there’s something going on that she doesn’t know about.

Tuesday, January 14

8/7c NCIS (CBS)

McGee reluctantly discusses a very personal discussion with his teammates while the team investigates an F-18 crash and the subsequent disappearance of the plane’s pilot.

8/7c The Resident (FOX)

Conrad doesn’t work at Chastain anymore, but it won’t stop him from storming in after he receives a call about a former patient who took extreme and tragic measures after RRMM sued him for medical expenses.

Mina and Nic work together at their free-clinic three hours out of the city, and have to scramble to find a new battery for a patient’s VAD. Meanwhile, VIP patient Nadine lands herself back in the ER with Devon, and Cain moves in on Bell’s business partner, Andrea.

8/7c Arrow (The CW)

*Airing at a special time this week, usually airs at 9/8c*

Crisis on Infinite Earths continues after a one month break with Part Four of the crossover event. We left off on the Paragons (minus Earth-96’s Superman and plus Earth-38’s Lex Luthor) trapped in the Vanishing Point after the Anti-Monitor destroyed all the Earths.

Just as they try to make sense of the mess they are in, The Flash disappears. Thankfully, Oliver shows up to help, but he is definitely not the same Green Arrow we all remember. Meanwhile, the origin stories are finally revealed for The Monitor and Anti-Monitor on an episode that is sure to be thrilling.

9/8c DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (The CW)

Crisis on Infinite Earths concludes on the season premiere of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and the description for the episode only ominously states “Worlds lived, worlds died. Nothing will ever be the same.”

That definitely means everyone is getting a happy ending, right?

9/8c The New Pope (HBO)

The New Pope picks up where The Young Pope (2017 HBO) left off. When we last saw the young, charming and handsome Pope, Lenny Belardo, he had suffered a heart attack leaving audiences wondering if he would live.

He did, but he’s in a coma and now the Vatican must scramble to figure out what to do. The intriguing and amusing series stars Jude Law, in all his shirtless Papal glory, causing havoc even when laying unconscious in a hospital bed.

9/8c This Is Us (NBC)

This is Us is finally back! It’s been a long two months since that final twist left us with questions about what happens between Kevin and Randall, who Kevin is having a kid with and more.

Now the show returns with its winter premiere — and it promises more of Rebecca’s declining cognitive health, Toby and Kate getting into it, and a special appearance by John Legend.

10/9c Emergence (ABC)

Emergence just returned from its winter hiatus and yet, we’re already down to the final two episodes of the season.

On the midseason premiere, we saw Jo and Brooks’ hunt for Piper, and this upcoming episode will play out during the same timeline but from the AI side as Piper attempts to save Benny from Helen’s “mysterious mission.”

10/9c New Amsterdam (NBC)

The series returns from hiatus with the thrilling continuation of the hospital going on lockdown after a group of inmates take over. To get to another inmate, they have no qualms about going through a hospital or innocent people.

The stress of it all may get to Max, who gets a nosebleed, but could that be a sign of something more serious? Tune in to find out!

Wednesday, January 15

Grace and Frankie (Netflix)

One of the greatest duos returns on Wednesday with the penultimate season of Grace and Frankie.

Grace is just back from her honeymoon, and Frankie isn’t alone in finding it hard to deal with the new parameters of their friendship.

But Grace’s adaptation to living away from Frankie leads to new challenges that ultimately bring the two closer than ever.

And Grace isn’t the only one getting a little action outside of their friendship, and her flirtations are, as always, top-notch viewing.

Look for a medical scare, relationship woes on many fronts, and a swell setup for Grace and Frankie Season 7, their last.

The Circle (Netflix)

The final batch of episodes gets released for The Circle Season 1. In an unprecedented move, catfish “Sean” plans to reveal their real photo to Chris, Sammie, and “Rebecca.” How will they react to the news? And who will win The Circle?

9/8c Chicago Fire (NBC)

A pest control problem forces the 51 team to temporarily bunk with Firehouse 20, and tensions are sure to be on the rise, as Casey clashes with Capt. Delaney and Foster, Kidd, and Brett fear Capt.

Leone has it out for them. With these firefighters, things are bound to become explosive, and a new rivalry between the firehouses is prime for the taking.

9/8c Criminal Minds (CBS)

While Matt works from home so he can watch the kids, the rest of the BAU heads to Memphis to investigate a series of bombings over three states.

.

9/8c Party of Five (Freeform)

The Acosta siblings are still struggling to take care of each other in the wake of their parents’ deportation. Emilio’s new relationship with Vanessa causes tension between him and Beto, plus he has to make some new business decisions that might negatively impact the restaurant.

Lucia befriends a homeless youth and discovers he hasn’t renewed his DACA, and technology and how it advances communication has an unexpected effect on Val.

10/9c Good Trouble (Freeform)

After a fun Christmas special, Good Trouble returns with the Coterie gang in the aftermath of Callie’s decision to leave the Coterie. She and Mariana are at odds with each other, and the others are dragged into their spat.

Meanwhile, Malika is arrested after protesting Jude Wilson’s appointment in honor of Jamal Thompson.

10/9c The Magicians (SyFy)

The Magicians Season 5 returns after The Magician Season 4 finale saw the series boldly killing off its protagonist Quentin.

How do Julia, Alice, and Eliot move on after losing a loved one? What happened to Josh and Fen, and who is this Dark King?

All these questions and more will be answered.

If there’s one episode you should watch live this week, it’s The Magicians season premiere.

10/9c Stumptown (ABC)

Grey and Hoffman take their bromance to the next level as Grey heads undercover to bring down the car hijacking ring.

Will Grey remain a reformed criminal or will he cross back over to the dark side when he finds a dark, brooding bad girl waiting for him there?

10/9c Chicago PD (NBC)

Now that we know Halstead survives, we can move onto the other major storyline: the Burzek pregnancy.

Burgess decided to keep the baby, but Ruzek’s concern over her safety, especially in their line of work, causes tension in their relationship. Will she take a break from Intelligence?

10/9c Vikings (History)

Lagertha is dead, and just like that, the entire series has been turned on its head. Looking ahead, Hvitserk will face up to his crimes, but will Bjorn, Ubbe, Gunnhild, and Torvi manage to survive the changes coming to Norway under the rule of King Harald?

We have no idea, but the series is gearing up for an epic conclusion.

Thursday, January 16

8/7c Supernatural (The CW)

Supernatural ends it’s 15-year run with its final episodes beginning this Thursday.

Sam and Dean are in a fight against God (Chuck) and are trying to gather their forces to stop his evil ways. But it’s anyone’s guess as to how everything will end for our beloved Winchester brothers.

10/9c EVIL (CBS)

Serial killer Orson Leroux returns this episode as Townsend assists in having his conviction overturned.

Kristen is forced to testify in court while her daughter, Laura, undergoes emergency heart surgery. Sounds like the perfect mix of fun and heartfelt.

Best Series Like ‘Game of Thrones’ on Netflix in 2020

  • Post Category:Netflix

Game of Thrones – Copyright HBO

Can’t wait for Season 8 of Game of Thrones? We’ve put together a list of the best shows like the popular HBO fantasy drama to quench your thirst until it’s April 2019 release. It’s hard to match up against a powerhouse of a show like GoT but some these gems may surprise you. Let’s take a look at the best shows on Netflix to watch before the release of season 8 of Game of Thrones.

What is it we love so much about Game of Thrones? Is it the Dragons, the White Walkers and the Epic fantasy of it all? Or do our reasons lay deeper than that? Is it the schemes and betrayals as knives are plunged deep into the back of friends and foes? The romance between 2 star-crossed lovers or that of forbidden love? A war that leaves the ground scorched, the men lay dying in the dirt with wives widowed and chaos reigns throughout the land? The duels and combat between powerful warriors that fight for loyalty, fight for greed or those that fight for a cause greater than that of themselves? Frankly, it is all of these things and more!

Of course, Game of Thrones itself isn’t streaming on Netflix and nor will it be anytime soon. Many of the shows below have the elements of what makes an excellent series like that of Game of Thrones. But don’t turn your nose up just yet, sink your sword deep into episodes and binge on them like a King. But be warned you will have to use your shield to defend yourself against the pain of betrayal, love, and war.

Please Note: The List below has been arranged A-Z and not by rating and is from the Netflix US library

The Witcher Netflix Original

Seasons on Netflix: 1
Episodes: 8
Regions Currently Streaming: Worldwide
Cast: Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring
IMDb: 8.5/10

Although Netflix and the show’s creators were keen to separate Game of Thrones and The Witcher, the comparisons are endless. Both are based on huge novel series and are both rooted in the fantasy genre.

The first season was huge for Netflix and therefore directly compared to Game of Thrones. Season 2 of The Witcher is on the way in 2021.

The Plot

Following the books, it tells story of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter for hire and how his path crosses with Yennefer, a mage, and Ciri.

Frontier Netflix Original

Seasons on Netflix: 3
Episodes:
18
Regions Currently Streaming:
Worldwide
Cast: Jason Momoa, Landon Liboiron, Zoe Boyle, Jessica Matten, Michael Patric, Alun Armstrong
IMDB: 7.3/10

While Frontier doesn’t have the same production value or grandeur as GoT the Canadian historical period-drama has gained a very loyal fanbase over the past few years. Not to mention it has helped Jason Mamoa rise from a Kahl of the Dothraki to the King of Atlantis. At the time of writing the 3rd season of Frontier was recently just released, so there’s plenty for you to binge on.

The Plot

Irishman Michael Smyth accidentally stows away on a boat heading to the new world of America. After being caught on the journey to America, upon Michael’s arrival, he is given the opportunity to earn the freedom of his lover whom he left back in the British Isles if agrees to spy upon the outlaw fur-trader, Declan Harp. Agreeing to this Michael sets out on his mission to find Harp. Harp himself has his own grudge against the men who have hired Michael. Using brutal tactics Harp is determined to break the  Hudson Bay Companies hold on the fur trade in Canada.

Knightfall

Cast: Simon Merrells, Nasser Memarzia, Tom Cullen, Jim Carter, Padraic Delaney, Julian Ovenden
IMDB: 6.6/10

The history channel has been the butt end of quite a lot of memes and jokes over the years due to their variety of documentaries. While many of their shows are to be desired shows like Vikings and Knightfall give back the network some level of prestige.

The Plot

The Knights Templar were one of the most powerful Catholic military orders during the crusades but by 1306 the once powerful organization has lost most of its power and influence. After losing many of their allies, the Order now faces the threat of extinction at the hands of the King of France. Focusing their attention to reclaim the Holyland, the Knights Templar take this on as their crusade. Entrusted with protecting the Holy Grail the order must protect the Grail at all costs and any secrets that could destroy the church.

Marco Polo Netflix Original

Seasons on Netflix: 2 + Special
Episodes: 20
Regions Currently Streaming:
Worldwide
Cast: Lorenzo Richelmy, Benedict Wong, Joan Chen, Remy Hii, Zhu Zhu, Mahesh Jadu
IMDB: 8.1/10

Marco Polo had a wealth of potential to become a powerhouse for Netflix but alas it wasn’t to be. Don’t deter this from watching it though, some of the fight scenes are nothing short of excellence and visually the series is beautiful.

The Plot

After traveling along the silk road for Three years young Venetian explorer Marco Polo is taken prisoner by great Kublai Khan, Marco is forced to learn the world of politics and the culture of the Mongolians in the court of the Khan. Seeing Marco as a useful tool in his campaign to become Emporer of the world Kublai Khan keeps Marco at his side.

Medici: Masters of Florence Netflix Original

Regions Currently Streaming: USA, UK, CAN, GER, BEL, IND, SWI
Cast: Richard Madden, Stuart Martin, Annabel Scholey, Guido Caprino, Alessandro Sperduti, Valentina Belle
IMDB: 7.9/10

Many fans of GoT will recognize the familiar face of a certain King in the North, Richard Madden. Better known for his portrayal of Robb Stark, Madden has been quite in demand for over the past few years. At the time of writing the second season is currently airing in Italy, ironically another GoT alumni have made their debut in the show. Playing the role of Jacopo de’ Pazzi is Sean Bean. Hopefully, this isn’t another character to add to his growing collection of roles he’s played in which the character has died.

The Plot

In the 15th Century, Florence Cosimo de’ Medici inherited the Bank of Medici after his father was mysteriously killed with poison. Our story takes place 20 years prior to this event as it explores the relationship that Cosimo and his brother Lorenzo had with their father.

Merlin

Seasons on Netflix: 5
Episodes: 65
Regions Currently Streaming: USA, UK, CAN, AUS + 24 More Regions
Cast: Colin Morgan, Bradley James, Angel Coulby, Katie McGrath, Richard Wilson, John Hurt
IMDB: 7.9/10

There be dragons, magic, and knights. The BBC’s take on the reimagining of Merlin and the Legend of King Arthur was well received and had a very fierce fan following across its five-season run. Merlin is certainly more family-friendly than Game of Thrones, so this is one TV show the kids can enjoy as well. It was supposed to be the case that Merlin was leaving Netflix in December 2019 but thankfully, that hasn’t come to fruition.

The Plot

In the ancient kingdom of Camelot, aspiring wizard Merlin is learning and honing his skills to become help his uncle. Meanwhile, Prince Arthur is preparing to become the future king of Camelot. The two young men, their fates are interwoven and their destinies set, this is the legend of King Arthur.

Regions Currently Streaming: CAN, AUS, IND, SKR, + 23 More Regions
Cast: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Duncan Lacroix, Tobias Menzies, Grant O’Rourke
IMDB: 8.5/10

While there isn’t a whole bunch of time-traveling elements within Game of Thrones, War, heartbreak, and rebellion certainly are. Outlander has become one of the sleeper hits for STARZ, and if you’re looking for a quick Game of Thrones fix then look no further.

The Plot

Claire Randall once served as a Nurse during World War 2, and while enjoying her second honeymoon, Claire is mysteriously sent back in time to 1743 Scotland. Amidst the growing Jacobite Rebellion, Claire is taken in by a group of Scottish Rebels and out of necessity marries highland warrior Jamie Fraser.

Roman Empire Netflix Original

Seasons on Netflix: 3
Episodes: 15
Regions Currently Streaming:
Worldwide
Cast: Aaron Irvin, Sean Bean, Aaron Jakubenko, Edwin Wright, Genevieve Atkin
IMDB: 6.9/10

This series marks another credit for Sean Bean except for this time he’s in the narrator’s seat rather than being killed *again*. Betrayal, Politics, War you can see a theme forming here. It’s well known that author George R R Martin took a lot of inspiration from history to help write his novels and if there was ever a period of history to take inspiration from you wouldn’t have to look much farther than that of the Roman Empire. Split across 2 stories in the most significant eras of Roman history bear witness to the rise and fall of the Roman Republic.

The Plot

Part One tells the tale of Commodus and his rise and fall as the dictator king of Rome. Part Two follows the meteoric rise and eventual assassination of Emporer Julius Caeser

The Borgias

Seasons on Netflix: 3
Episodes: 29
Regions Currently Streaming:
USA
Cast: Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, Peter Sullivan, Sean Harris
IMDB: 7.9

A particular series that the Lannisters may enjoy if you catch my drift? Now Imagine if the Tywin Lannister was the Pope? Best way to describe the devious Rodrigo Borgia or better known as Pope Alexander VI. Taking fictional liberties on the rumors of incest between Rodrigo’s children, the show divulged into the rumored affair between Cesare and Lucrezia Borgia.

The Plot

Through Bribery and Simony, Rodrigo Borgia becomes the Pope of the Catholic Church. Through lies and deceit, Rodrigo manipulates many of those within the church and even those within his family to ensure his family has an everlasting dynasty in the Vatican. Thrusting themselves into the heart of political Europe the Borgia family face threats from all sides as they struggle to keep a hold of their influence.

The Last Kingdom Netflix Original

Seasons on Netflix: 3
Episodes: 26
Regions Currently Streaming:
Worldwide
Cast: Alexander Draymon, Ian Hart, David Dawson, Eliza Butterworth, Harry McEntire, Arna Fedaravicius
IMDB: 8.3/10

The Last Kingdom is Netflix’s answer to GoT. While the film originally was produced by BBC America, it’s astounding they relinquished it to Netflix considering its ever-growing popularity. Based on the works of author Bernard Cornwell who is well renowned for his work on historical fiction. Each season covers of least 2 books from the collection of ‘The Saxon Stories’, with 6 books down out of the current 11 we can expect of least another 3 seasons of The Last Kingdom.

The Plot

Osbert is taken captive by the Danish and renamed Uthbert while his uncle usurps the Ealdorman. After many years as a slave under the Dane Ragnar, Uhtred takes part in the conquests of Mercia and East Anglia. After the death of his former master forces Uhhred to flee the Danes, he escapes to the kingdom of Wessex. It is here he meets Alfred the king of Wessex. The fateful encounter sets in motion the future of the island nation and Uhtred’s plan to take back the Ealdorman from his uncle.

The Tudors

Seasons on Netflix: 4
Episodes: 38
Regions Currently Streaming:
USA, Greece, South Korea, Thailand
Cast: Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Henry Cavill, Anthony Brophy, James Frain, Sarah Bolger, Natalie Dormer
IMDB: 8.1/10

Henry VIII is perhaps the most famous king that has reigned over the country of England, also the most controversial. Throughout his reign, he had 6 wives, not to mention any number of unnamed mistresses! Lies, love, and deceit everything that you need in a historical fictional drama. In his later years, even Joffrey could have been in awe at the king Henry became.

The Plot

Centered around the reign of King Henry VIII, the series chronicles his journey from his divorce to Catherine of Aragorn to his final days as King of England. Primarily focused on Henry’s female companions over his reign and his relationships with both friend and foe alike.

Versailles

Seasons on Netflix: 3
Episodes: 30
Regions Currently Streaming:
USA, GER, ESP, JPN, ARG, BRA, ITA, IND + 8 More
Cast: George Blagden, Alexander Vlahos, Stuart Bowman, Evan Williams, Tygh Runyan, Joe Sheridan
IMDB: 7.9/10

The Great and The Sun King, are excellent titles to be added onto your name don’t you think? Very apt names for the longest-reigning monarch to have ever lived (we wish we could say the same for the King in the North but alas). His reign was nothing shy of quiet and his legacy would leave an impact on France forever. Louis wasted no time in seizing glory for himself through his construction of Versailles and his war against the Spanish Empire.

The Plot

In the year 1667 Louis XIV finally takes control of France and becomes king. Upon becoming king, Louis XIV commissions the construction of the Palace of Versailles. With its completion, Versailles becomes the most lavish and beautiful palace in Europe. Enticing the nobles of the land, Louis uses the palace as a means to control the scheming and corrupt aristocracy.

Vikings

Seasons on Netflix: 5
Episodes: 59
Regions Currently Streaming: AUS, MEX, IND, RUS + 17 More Regions
IMDB: 8.6/10

Almost as fierce as the Dothraki themselves (minus the horde of horseback blood riders), Vikings were detrimental to the history of Europe. The mythological figure of Ragnar and the men that claimed to be the son of the legendary Viking, tore there way through the countries of Europe across the 9th and 10th century.

The Plot

Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking warrior and farmer has aspirations for his people that far exceed the vision of his fellow warriors. Traveling west to a new world for the first time and bringing home a heart horde of loot, Ragnar has his eyes set on leading his people and bringing the Vikings to the British Isles

‘Cowboy Bebop’ Netflix Live-Action Series: What We Know So Far

  • Post Category:Netflix

Cowboy Bebop – Copyright. Tokyopop

Alongside Netflix’s expansion into the anime market, Netflix is also adapting fan-favorite Cowboy Bebop into a live-action series. A troubled development has meant that we won’t likely see Cowboy Bebop on Netflix until 2021. Here’s the latest on Cowboy Bebop including the Netflix release date, plot, cast and trailer.

Cowboy Bebop is an upcoming Netflix Original live-action sci-fi series based on the manga of the same name by author Hajime Yatate. Alex Garcia Lopez (Daredevil) is set to direct the series with twelve writers on board to help create the story, most notably Thor Ragnorok writer Christopher L. Yost is on board. Yost also serves as an executive producer on the series.

The manga debuted in September of 1997 in Monthly Asuka Fantasy DX and ran until June 1998. A second manga series began a month later and ran for a further three volumes and ending in February 2000. Cowboy Bebop’s popularity skyrocketed, and anime adaptation soon followed after the first manga run. Both the manga and anime rose to critical acclaim, becoming one of the most popular franchises of the late 90s. The legacy of Cowboy Bebop is still felt today as the series is still for many, one of the best anime ever created.

What is the plot of Cowboy Bebop?

In the year 2071, most of humanity has colonized the rocky planets and moons of the solar system. Roughly fifty years prior, Earth had been left uninhabitable after an accident with a hyperspace gateway. Amidst the rise of a growing crime rate throughout the solar system, the Inter Solar System Police legalize bounty hunters. Known as “Cowboys” they chase criminals across the solar system and bring them to justice.

Chasing down these criminals are the crew of the spaceship Bebop. Spike Siegal, former hitman and exiled member of the Red Dragon syndicate and his partner Jet Black a former ISSP officer. The amnesiac con-artist Faye Valentine, Edward Wong the eccentric hacking girl and finally Ein the genetically engineered adorable Welsh Corgi with human-like intelligence.

In January 2020, while promoting a new horror movie (The Grudge), John Cho had a fair bit to reveal on what to expect from the upcoming live-action Cowboy Bebop series.

Cho referred to the series as “unique piece of material” and that throughout they had to “keep it strange” to be true to the source material.

Who is in the cast of Cowboy Bebop?

The following cast members have been confirmed to star in Cowboy Bebop:

  • Spike Spiegel will be played by John Cho (as seen in Star Trek & Harold & Kumar)
  • Vicious will be played by Alex Hassell (as seen in Cold Mountain & Two Down)
  • Faye Valentine played by Danielle Pineda (seen in Jurassic World and The Vampire Diaries
  • Jet Black will be played by Mustafa Shakir (seen in Luke Cage and Quarry)

Here are the respective actors for the Netflix live-action remake and their anime counterparts.

Rumors had spread by a Bebop blog that a Husky was cast as Ein instead of a Welsh Corgi.

According to the Bebop blog a spokesperson from Netflix has commented on the change of Dog breed for Ein:

Nothing in the story says Ein has to be a Corgi and honestly, a reboot that precisely mimics the source material is boring. We’ve already seen that story.

The response after being asked about potential fan backlash was very intriguing:

Just like the genre the show is named for, sometimes it’s better to do what’s unexpected, what’s never been done before. This is the ethos of Bebop, and we’re being truet to that. We’re confident true fans of the show will embrace this choice.

The “statement” made was most likely fake for a number of reasons. First of all, using the phrase “true fans” is one way to really rile up the fanbase. The last thing you want to do is question the fan bases love for the franchise.

Second of all writer and executive producer Christoper Yost acknowledged the rumors on Twitter and cleared up any confusion on the breed of Ein.

What is the production status of Cowboy Bebop Season 1?

Official Production Status: Delayed for 7-9 Months (Last Updated: 21/10/2019)

The series had begun production but after an accident onset involving lead actor John Cho, the production has been delayed.

Cho suffered an injury during the last take of a “well-rehearsed routine,” and has been flown back to Los Angeles for surgery and then extensive rehabilitation.

In November 2019, John Cho posted on Instagram that he was on the mend.

As of December 2019, the series is now scheduled to start filming again in July 2020 according to ProductionWeekly with filming taking place in Auckland New Zealand and South Africa. In addition, we know the series is using the working title of Jazz Band.

How many episodes will Cowboy Bebop Season 1 air?

The first season of Cowboy Bebop will have ten episodes.

Netflix typically doesn’t produce titles with over episodes that exceed thirteen episodes.

How much of the manga will Cowboy Bebop cover?

As the series will have ten episodes and each being roughly an hour-long, it’s likely it will cover all of the story.

Will there be a second season of Cowboy Bebop?

The series has been acknowledged as a mini-series which would indicate there are no plans for a second season.

When is the release date for Cowboy Bebop Season 1?

Our previous prediction was a release date in Q2 2020. The release date for Cowboy Bebop will be pushed back by a significant amount after John Cho’s injury on set.

With a delay to production that will last of least seven months, this pushes the release date back a significant amount. If we’re lucky we’ll see Cowboy Bebop drop in the Summer or Fall of 2021.

Potential Release Date: Summer/Fall 2021

Do fans of Cowboy Bebop actually want a live-action adaptation?

This is entirely subjective amongst fans themselves so it’s hard for an outlet to say what fans want or don’t want.

That’s not to say live-action titles don’t have their own fan-base. If they didn’t then no studio in their right mind would continue to make them.

The general enthusiasm amongst fans when it comes to a live-action adaptation of classic anime titles is very poor. In most instances, live-action adaptations have failed to impress critics and fans alike. Whether it’s a slight alteration in character design or alterations to the story it’s very hard to impress when there’s arguably an already superior product available.

Thankfully we now know that the series will stick to the source material and Ein will be a Welsh Corgi. Regardless, for a time fans thought that Ein was cast to be a Husky and this angered many of the fanbase. Straying away from the source material is one way to really put off fans of a new adaptation.

Will ‘1917’ be Coming to Netflix?

  • Post Category:Netflix

1917 – Picture: Universal Pictures

1917 is perhaps the biggest war movie to release since Dunkirk. With Sam Mendes helms the project but will 1917 eventually be streaming on Netflix? Let’s take a look.

With an all-star cast including the likes of Clin Firth, George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Daniel Mays starring, it’s easy to see what this movie is a home run. Set during WW1, two British soldiers are given the task of running a message deep into enemy territory to prevent the mass slaughter of a battalion of men.

The movie has already been sweeping the award shows with it scoring two wins at the recent Golden Globe events.

The movie is in theaters around the world starting January 10th, 2020 although it did get a select cinema screening in December to qualify for awards.

Now let’s take a look at the streaming status of 1917 although we would advise going to see at an IMAX cinema screen if you are able as it’s a visually stunning movie.

Will 1917 be on Netflix in the United States?

We’ll begin with the US as that’s easiest to cover.

In short, Netflix in the United States may eventually get 1917 but it won’t be for many years.

That’s because Universal Pictures (who publishes and distributes the movie) currently has an output deal with HBO which lasts all the way up until 2022. Netflix may gun for the contract when it comes up for renewal, after all, Netflix has lost several big output deals in recent years such as Dreamworks and Disney.

Netflix does get some older Universal titles every now and again and does seem to have an output deal with Universals Home Group division and gets all animated content from Illumination Entertainment.

Will 1917 be on Netflix in other regions?

Sadly, output deals aren’t widely publicized for other regions but we can make guesses based on what regions have received Universal Pictures titles in the past.

Netflix in the United Kingdom seems to get Universal Pictures content on a regular basis. Most recently, they got The Hustle which is distributed by Universal internationally. That movie premiered back in May 2019 and arrived on Netflix in late December 2019. On a similar projection, 1917 would arrive on Netflix in the UK between August and November 2020.

Other Netflix regions such as Netflix Canada and Australia also get Universal Movies a couple of years after premiering. Happy Death Day (2017) for example is streaming on 13 countries Netflix including Israel, India, Hong Kong, Greece, Poland, Thailand, South Africa, and other regions.

That’s all we know so far about the Netflix release schedule for 1917. We’ll be updating this post over the next few years with any further information we get about the streaming schedule for the movie.

The Ranch Final Season Trailer: Who Gets Arrested for Murder?

  • Post Category:Netflix

Netflix is taking viewers back to The Ranch one last time.

The streamer has dropped the official trailer for the 8th and final part of the series, debuting Friday, January 24.

With us saying goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love, the trailer confirms who gets arrested for murdering Mary’s ex, and we are surprised.

ranch 2

The unlucky person is Luke, but we don’t even know whether he was the one to do the crime. That will likely be one of the big questions during the final episodes.

The clip also confirms the return of Debra Winger as Maggie Bennett. Maggie will be back on the ranch to spread some holiday cheer.

However, her bombshell announcement will leave the family reeling.

“Raise a glass and get ready to take one last ride to The Ranch. With Iron River Ranch now in a competitor’s hands and more trouble on the horizon, Colt, Beau and the rest of the Bennetts must band together as they face an uncertain future,” reads the official logline.

ranch 3

The series stars Ashton Kutcher, Elisha Cuthbert, and Sam Elliott.

It was created by Don Reo and Jim Patterson, The Ranch was the first comedy series produced by Netflix.

It is executive produced by Reo, Patterson, Kutcher, Jeff Lowell, Max Searle, and Matt Ross.

Netflix has also confirmed an official soundtrack will be released later this month.

The soundtrack includes fan-favorite theme song “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys,” a rendition of the Ed Bruce country classic performed by Lukas Nelson and GRAMMY® Award winner Shooter Jennings.

ranch 5

This special Lukas/Shooter duet was recorded specifically for The Ranch and has never been released. It comes more than 40 years after their fathers–country music icons Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings–recorded their cover of the song, which hit No. 1 on the country music charts and earned the duo a GRAMMY®.

The soundtrack will be available in digital and physical (CD) formats and will release on January 24, 2020 to coincide with the final season release date. A limited edition 12” vinyl of the soundtrack will be available on February 14, 2020.

By the time the series concludes, 80 episodes will have aired.

This makes The Ranch Netflix’s longest-running multi-camera comedy, eclipsing Fuller House, which will close out with 75 episodes.

ranch 4

“The Ranch is coming to an end, but not just yet,” Kutcher announced on Twitter last year.

“We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes — 10 later this year… and then 10 more in 2020. Stay tuned!!”

‘The Good Place’ Season 4 Netflix Release Schedule in 2020

  • Post Category:Netflix

The Good Place season 4 – Picture: NBC

The fourth and final season of The Good Place is now wrapping up on NBC and releasing on Netflix weekly. We have the Netflix release schedule The Good Place season 4 on Netflix and when we can expect to see the fourth season on Netflix in the United States, Canada, the UK and beyond.

NBC struck gold with the afterlife comedy-drama and we’ll be sad to say our goodbyes to wonderful series. But all good things must come to an end, and rather than overstaying its welcome creator Michael Schur has deemed season 4 the right time to conclude the series.

Filming for the fourth season began in April. NBC aired episode 1 of The Good Place on September 26th, 2019 and ran up to Christmas before taking a break and returning to NBC on January 9th, 2020.

In the final season, the humans are taking control over The Good Place and heading back to the original neighborhood. They’re running fighting for their lives as the judge orders them to carry out an experiment to demonstrate that humans can become good. The finale is set to be an extended episode at around an hour runtime.

When will The Good Place season 4 be coming to Netflix US and Canada?

Fans of the series will know by now that seasons of The Good Place air on NBC before arriving on Netflix.

The wait is significant but the latest series has typically arrived in the following September after a season premieres. This means that subscribers can expect to see the fourth season arrive in September 2020. Season 3, for example, arrived in late August 2019 and season 2 in September 2018.

With there being no fifth season of The Good Place, this has the potential to impact the release of the fourth season and come much sooner as the release on Netflix won’t help any further seasons viewership on NBC itself.

If you really need a catch-up service to watch live or soon after the new episodes, Hulu has your back with weekly episodes although as of January 2020 it only had episodes 5 to 9.

The Good Place Netflix Original Release Schedule

Outside of the US and Canada, The Good Place is a Netflix Original. The series is also one of the most popular titles on the streaming service to date. These include pretty much all regions including the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

It has been confirmed in a tweet by the Netflix UK & Ireland twitter that The Good Place will be returning on the 27th of September, 2019.

Subscribers should be reminded that while the series airs week to week, there is a Winter break for the season. There 14 episodes to look forward to in season four.

Elite Season 3: Premiere Date Announced!

  • Post Category:Netflix

The scandalous lives of the Spanish elite will continue to be charted on Elite Season 3.

We’ve known for some time now that the show was already renewed, but we could never have expected this bombshell:

Elite Season 3 will premiere on the streamer in March.

Carla at the Ball - Elite

That’s a lot earlier than many were expecting, given that Elite Season 2 debuted in September 2019 — a whole 11 months after the first season debut.

We already knew that Seasons 2 and 3 were filmed back-to-back, so it’s nice to know that we won’t be waiting long for the drama to continue.

Elite is a murder-mystery that follows the teens of a top-tier Spanish private school. You wouldn’t believe the things they get up to.

Though Netflix has yet to drop a trailer or even a synopsis for the third outing, we can only assume it will pick up in the immediate aftermath of the crazy finale.

Nadia, Christian, and Samuel on Elite

Polo was finally unmasked to everyone as Marina’s killer, but in a true twist of fate, he got to return to the school, and may well get away with it.

It was a devastating conclusion, but it succeeded in setting up a third outing that will be just as twisted.

Even though the second season introduced us to new characters in Rebeca, Valerio, and Cayetana, there are more new additions on the horizon.

Ester Expósito, who plays Carla, dropped the renewal news in October and also confirmed two new classmates played by Leïti Sène and Sergio Momo.

How will these new characters fit into the narrative? We’ll need to tune in this March.

Carla and Polo - Elite

Another thing worth noting: Elite Season 2 managed to steer clear of the dreaded sophomore slump, so let’s hope the drama in Las Encinas continues to be high when the series returns.

What are your thoughts on this news, Elite Fanatics?

Are you happy the series is returning earlier?
