Dolan Twins To Delve ‘Deeper’ In New Weekly Podcast With Cadence13

  • Post Category:Other

YouTube luminaries and burgeoning fragrance aficionados The Dolan Twins are getting a little pensive with their latest business venture — a forthcoming podcast titled Deeper With The Dolan Twins.

The show comes care of Cadence13 — a podcast company and division of Radio.com that creates, distributes, and monetizes audio series for countless other influencers and traditional celebrities, including Emma Chamberlain, Remi Cruz and Alisha Marie, David Dobrik, Josh Peck, Rhett & Link, Smosh, The Try Guys, and more.

Deeper is being billed as a raw and unfiltered weekly conversation between the guys about all aspects of their lives. Twenty-year-old Ethan and Grayson Dolan hail from New Jersey and have amassed a staggering 50 million combined followers across all of their social platforms. The guys will cover both serious and not-so-serious topics on Deeper, including behind-the-scenes stories of their YouTube videos, how they navigated the public spotlight at such a young age, and the challenges associated with fame.

Episodes will launch every Tuesday beginning Feb. 25 on Apple, Radio.com, Spotify, and everywhere else that podcasts are available. You can subscribe to the podcast on Apple and listen to the trailer right here.

“The Dolan Twins are an unstoppable duo whose authenticity, honesty, and sense of humor resonate with millions of fans around the world,” Chris Corcoran, Cadence13’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “This show will give them the opportunity to reveal themselves in way they never have before. Cadence13 is thrilled to join forces with them as they step into the podcast space for the first time.”

In addition to their nascent fragrance brand Wakeheart, as well as promotional work for storied fashion house Louis Vuitton, the guys most recently dropped a feature-length documentary on their YouTube channel (11 million subscribers) titled Losing A Best Friend, which chronicles the loss of their father, Sean, to cancer last year. The documentary, which you can watch below, also serves to raise funds for their newly-established charity, Love From Sean, which supports research, treatments, and support services for families and patients affected by cancer.

On My Block Season 3: Premiere Date Announced!

  • Post Category:Netflix

Netflix’s On My Block will return to the air this March.

The popular comedy will return for its third season Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

omb3

On My Block Season 3 includes eight episodes, and the streamer has offered up the following logline for the new installments:

They thought life was about to return to what passes for normal in Freeridge, but the stakes just got even higher.

While it doesn’t offer up much in the way of plot details, it does tease that things are about to get more complicated for the beloved characters at the wheel of the story.

The cast includes Diego Tinoco as Cesar Diaz, Sierra Capri as Monse Finnie, Jason Genao as Ruby Martinez, Brett Gray as Jamal Turner, Jessica Marie Garcia as Jasmine, and Julio Macias as Oscar.

omb2

Co-created by Lauren Iungerich (Awkward) and Eddie Gonzalez & Jeremy Haft (All Eyez On Me), On My Block is a coming of age comedy about four bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through the triumph, pain and the newness of high-school set in the rough inner city.

The series was a hit out of the gate for Netflix, being hailed as the most-binged show on the service in 2018, allowing the show to achieve great success.

Ahead of Season 3, the cast negotiated new deals, with Capri, Genao, Gray, and Tinoco receiving raises on the back of the show’s success, according to THR

The salaries of the core stars will continue to rise for a potential fourth and fifth season should Netflix order it.

Netflix has been cutthroat with cancellations of late, so there’s really no way of knowing whether the show will continue beyond the third season.

The series has been a hit with critics, averaging a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Huda Kattan To Host Business Competition At Inaugural ‘VidCon Abu Dhabi’

  • Post Category:Other

One of the biggest beauty vloggers and successful brand owners on YouTube, Dubai-based Huda Kattan, has been added to the lineup for the first-ever VidCon gathering in Abu Dhabi.

Kattan will be joined by her sister and business partner, Mona Kattan, at the convention, where the duo will be hosting The Huda Beauty Pitch Fest. (Huda serves as CEO of her namesake Huda Beauty corporation, while Mona serves as global president). The event will see the sisters provide support and mentorship to one lucky beauty entrepreneur, who will also take home $6,000 to launch their own business — which is the exact sum Kattan had when launching her company.

The event is being sponsored by HB Investments, the investment arm of Huda Beauty — a seed round accelerator that invests in startups and consumer-led businesses. Huda Beauty also comprises the eponymous color brand, fragrance company Kayali, and a nascent skin care line called Wishful.

Applications to participate in the Pitch Fest can be submitted right here — and three individual entrepreneurs or groups of co-founders will win the opportunity to pitch their concept to the sisters at VidCon Abu Dhabi in front of a live audience. After a series of questions and feedback, the sisters will then award one winner, who will receive the cash prize as well as mentorship from the Kattans themselves.

“We are looking for innovators, rebels, and disruptive who won’t take no for an answer,” reads the Pitch Fest website. “Do you have an idea that will change the game? Share it with us and let us help you bring it to life. While understanding the financials of your business is crucial, this isn’t your typical Shark Tank pitch. We are looking for passion, intention, and grit.”

As part of their VidCon appearance, the Kattan sisters will also participate in two other events: a discussion hosted by Mona titled How To Build Your Business 101, and a meet-and-greet session. Other attendees at the inaugural VidCon Abu Dhabi, to be held from March 25 to 28, include Gabbie Hanna, Brent Rivera, Noor Stars, the Merrell Twins, and Naz. The event was first announced last December amid a five-year deal with the United Arab Emirates’ department of culture and tourism (DCT).

Elite Season 3 Teaser Reveals Premiere Date

  • Post Category:Netflix

Elite Season 3 is coming very soon.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the highly anticipated third chapter of the teen drama will launch globally Friday, March 13.

Carla at the Ball - Elite

The streamer also dropped a teaser confirming the returning cast members Itzan Escamilla as Samuel García Domínguez, Miguel Bernardeau as Guzmán Nunier Osuna, Álvaro Rico as Polo Benavent, Arón Piper as Ander Muñoz, Mina El Hammani as Nadia Shanaa, Omar Ayuso as Omar Shanaa, Ester Expósito as Carla Rosón Caleruega, Danna Paola as Lucrecia “Lu” Montesinos Hendrich, Jorge López as Valerio Montesinos, Claudia Salas as Rebeka “Rebe” de Bormujo Ávalos, and Georgina Amorós as Cayetana Grajera Pando.

Two new actors include Sergio Momo as Yeray Leïti Sène as Malick for the third season cast. Miguel Herrán is not expected back as Christian Varela Expósito. The same goes for Jaime Lorente, who played Fernando “Nano” García Domínguez.

Nadia, Christian, and Samuel on Elite

Both Christian and Nano’s storylines naturally concluded during Elite Season 2, and there’s a good chance all of the current cast members will not be back for seasons 4 and 5.

According to an unconfirmed report, Elite Season 4 will be a soft reboot that will focus on a brand new cast and mystery. It’s unclear whether that mystery will be set at the same school or if we’ll be moving to a new location.

It makes sense to refresh the cast every few years, especially with a show set in high school. There are only so many mysteries you can make believable with the same bunch of characters.

Skins UK famously swapped out the cast every two seasons, and given the success of Elite so far, it might be a good way to keep fans enthralled for longer.

Carla and Polo - Elite

Elite Season 3 is a treat for fans of the series given that Netflix typically waits around 12 months between seasons of shows. However, this season is coming months after Season 2.

Watch the Season 3 trailer below and hit the comments with your thoughts on the rumor about a whole new cast.

MrBeast Reveals He Has Already Spent $100,000 On Scrapped Videos This Year

  • Post Category:Other

If you thought the high-concept videos shared on Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson’s YouTube cost a pretty penny, wait until you hear about what ends up on the cutting room floor.

On Twitter, as notes Dexerto, Donaldson revealed that, though it’s only February, he has already scrapped three videos this year — one of which touted a five-figure price tag. “I only want to upload the best of the best for you guys,” Donaldson tweeted over the weekend. “I don’t care if we spent $100,000 and a week filming. If it isn’t perfect, I don’t upload it.”

Responding to comments on Twitter, Donaldson revealed two of the ideas that had been jettisoned: one in which he and his crew visited all of the seven wonders of the world — which he said sent him back a cool $85,000 — and another video in which they “rammed random things with cars.” Donaldson didn’t disclose the cost of the latter stunt. But of the seven wonders concept, which sounds immensely clickable, Donaldson said it had been scrapped because he “didn’t like the story line we went with.”

Donaldson counts a stunning 30.3 million YouTube subscribers and 4.7 billion lifetime views. Right now, hes averaging upwards of 200 million monthly views. And every single video he made in 2019 garnered upwards of 10 million views.

In addition to sharing insights into axed videos on Twitter, Donaldson also took the time to call out some of his favorite videos to date, including Last To Take Hand Off $1,000,000 Keeps It (31.3 million views), I Bought Everything In A Store — Challenge (54.2 million views), I Opened A Free Car Dealership (46.6 million views), and Planting 20,000,000 Trees — My Biggest Project Ever. (40.1 million views). Most recently, he surprised his girlfriend with 100,000 roses for Valentine’s Day, which you can check out below:

After Investors Pull Plug, HQ Trivia Ceases Operations And Moves To Dissolution

  • Post Category:Other

Update, Feb. 18 at 12 pm ETIn a just-shared Twitter thread, HQ Trivia co-founder and CEO Rus Yusupov announced that all hope may not be lost. “HQ WILL LIVE ON,” he wrote, explaining that he’d spent the weekend searching for a new buyer and had managed to find “a new home for HQ, with a company that wants to keep it running.”

While the deal isn’t closed just yet, Yusupov says he’s optimistic. And any money from the sale will initially pay for severance for employees and contractors, as well as to cash out winners. “In its new home, we should expect HQ to go through some changes, especially to cover expenses, and be less buggy” he added. Yusupov is currently soliciting suggestions for chapter two of the app on Twitter.

Original story below:

HQ Trivia has reached ‘Game Over’ status; the once-buzzy quiz show app is laying off all remaining 25 employees and shutting its doors.

“With HQ, we showed the world the future of TV,” co-founder and CEO Rus Yusupov tweeted on Saturday. “We didn’t get to where we hoped, but we did stretch the world’s imagination for what’s possible on our smartphones.”

Citing a company-wide email from Yusupov, CNN reports that investors pulled the plug on funding, and thus the company — which was founded in Dec. 2017 by several of the minds behind Vine — had ceased operations and was initiating a process of dissolution. Yusupov added that the company had hired a banker to find additional investors and even received an offer from “an established business” — though the deal, which was set to close on Saturday, ultimately ended up falling through.

At its outset, HQ launched to substantial buzz, with twice-a-day quiz games hosted by comedian Scott Rogowsky (who departed the company due to scheduling conflicts last spring) and the opportunity to win generous cash prizes. At its peak, HQ Trivia saw upwards of 1 million concurrent players tuning in for a single game. The company was generating revenues through in-app purchases but predominantly via sponsored quiz shows, where top brands like General Motors, Warner Bros., and Nike paid for themed quizzes.

That said, the company was reportedly plagued with both internal executive turmoil as well as challenges expanding its business beyond the flagship quiz app. The company last laid off 20% of its staff — totaling 30 employees — in July 2019, which in turned spawned additional voluntary departures. At that time, it also turned down new funding — as it would have resulted in a down round. The company also weathered the loss of former co-founder and CEO Colin Kroll in Dec. 2018, who died of a reported drug overdose.

Prior to its shutdown, the company had raised a total of $15 million in venture funding, and was last valued at $100 million in March 2018. The game held a final drunken show on Saturday with co-hosts Matt Richards and Anna Roisman, offering a $5 prize and nabbing roughly 65,000 concurrent viewers at peak.
